Thymol was originally separated from thyme and got its name. Its English name, Thymol, is derived from the Greek word Thy-mos, which means positivity, enthusiasm and soul. The chemical name of thymol is 3-methyl-6-isopropyl phenol, chemical formula C10H14O, molecular weight 150.22.
Physical properties
colorless translucent crystal, special smell; At 25℃, 1g is dissolved in 1ml ethanol, 1.5ml diethyl ether, 0.7ml chloroform, 1.7ml olive oil and about 1000ml water, and dissolved in acetic acid and alkali solutions
