What is Macleaya cordata?

Macleaya cordata is an herbaceous perennial growing to 2.5 m (8 ft) tall, it is native to China and Japan.

The main chemical components of Bo Luohui are alkaloids. Further isolation and identification showed that chelerythrine and sanguinarine are its main active components, which have antibacterial and insecticidal effects; in addition, they can inhibit Staphylococcus aureus, Shigella hernia, Salmonella typhi, etc. Now it is widely used in medicine, biological pesticides, veterinary medicine, fine chemical products raw materials.
