1. Raw materials: acetophenone or propiophenone.
2. Acetophenone or propiophenone is condensed by sodium hydroxide and acetaldehyde to generate α-iminoacetone.
3. α-iminoacetone reacts with hydrogen peroxide and catalyst chromic anhydride to undergo a cyclization reaction to generate an intermediate with an epoxy structure.
4. The intermediate is hydrolyzed by acetic acid to break the epoxy structure and form carboxylic acid.
